Guest guest
My son is 8 years old with autism. He also was born with Spina Bifida (hole in his back). The Spina Bifida causes nerve damage and loss of feeling. For the most part, he doesn't have feeling in his legs and butt, so he doesn't feel when he needs to go to the bathroom. He has extreme constipation, but I can already feel a difference in his stomach when I push on it since starting SCD. I don't feel hard masses all along his intestines, but I still have to give him enemas. I believe the constipation drink (prune and legal OJ) might help, but because of his lack of feeling he doesn't know when to go and must wear diapers. However, giving him an enema once a day or every other day makes him not go in his pants. So, what I'm wanting to know is, are the enemas damaging his intestines further, killing out good bacteria. If so, is there something I can do to help? I know this may not be a question you can answer, but it's worth a try. Thanks! Diane
Guest guest
Hi Diane, > > Hi Diane, > Yes, you are right. You do need to do additional supplemantation of probiotics due to the enemas. See the probiotics section of www.pecanbread.com to get more info about S Boulardii. You might also try to increase the amount of L acidophilus. In a few weeks, you might try the SCD goat yogurt. Read the info in the yogurt section of www.pecanbread.com before starting it. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Mimi. Do you think I would still need to give him the S Boulardii and L acidopholus after starting him on the goat's milk yogurt? Guest guest
Hi Diane, That might help. You might mix the probiotics inside the goat milk ...that protects the probiotics on its journey down the digestive tract. Mimi > > Thanks for your reply Mimi.
