Guest guest
Hello all, I could use some support/advice/encouragement. I totally KNOW what all of you all are going to say....he he he. So please bear with my processing here. I'm feeding my ASD daughter the SCD diet right now, so I " m half a step from it anyways. Currently I'm on a liberal version of Dr. St. Amand's hypoglycemia diet (see www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com if you are curious...). Anywhoo...my diagnosis: fibromyalgia and hypoglycemia. Another thing that has happened to me over the past couple of years...a year and a half ago, seemingly out of the clear blue, I had an anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. I used to eat peanuts almost every day, as part of my low-ish carb diet. I didn't stop breathing but the reactions WAS on the anaphylactic spectrum, and I went to the allergist and now I carry an epi-pen. Where did this allergy suddenly come from? I'm thinking something having to do with damaged gut, leaky etc? My allergist also told me to stay away from tree nuts, at least for three years. Lovely. Since then, I've also developed hives if I get any soy protein. Food allergies cropping up all over the place out of the clear blue.!????!!!!! Since I " m hypoglycemic, would I need to avoid the foods that are forbidden on my current diet, such as honey and bananas and dried fruit (once I work up to them), or do you think SCD will allow me to control my hypoglycemia with the full range of sugary foods? Currently I rely heavily on artificial sweeteners (like generic Crytal Lite, diet Pepsi, etc. ) and I KNOW they are bad for me. I also use stevia which is NOT SCD legal. Sometimes I wonder if that's what's damaged my gut....splenda and that chlorine molecule it has on it...I " m just wondering, that's all. Supposedly undigestible, but some people DO digest it... Will SCD help me loose weight? Coffee is legal, but not decaf?...does everyone drink it black or do people put yogurt in it? I may just try this diet. Wah. Perhaps I should use up the goodies I have in the house first...Wah. It would be hard. Would I be able to hold out hope of at least getting tree nuts back into my diet at some point? And yes, I crave carbs. Biscuits and spaghetti are my favorite foods ever even though I rarely indulge because of my hypoglycemia. So, I have many signs of needing and potentially benefiting from this diet, don't I? thanks, Alana Fibro dx 12-04, guaifenesin protocol by Dr. St. Amand, hypoglycemia, peanut and soy allergies, possible tree nut allergies mom to ASD daughter on SCD diet since 9-
