Guest guest
Heidi, First of all thanks for the prayers. My dad is doing great! Some mild depression but nothing major. That is something I was worried about. He had pretty severe depression after his first heart attack 3 years ago. I started today on the 25 mcg. patch. I am using oxycodone 10 mg. for breakthrough. My doc said I would know within 24 hours if the relief will be what I need. I thought it may take some time to get in my system with the delivery being so different on this med but she said it gets in there pretty quickly. I am hoping that it works. The main thing I don't like about the oxycontin is the headache I had with it and then if I overslept and missed my time I would really experience pain. The patch has that advantage for me, in that I don't have to wake up at a certain time to take it. It is on there for 3 days and I can put it on at night and not worry about missing that dose in the morning. I really hope it works. What dosage do you use now? She said we would gradually increase it as necessary. That we could do 25 then 50 and then wait 2 cycles (6 days) before increasing to 75. That will give me time to adjust to any side effects. I tell ya', this doc is wonderful! She is willing to try anything with me to get relief and has educated herself on my illness. She did not have many patients with this illness and none with SOD or pancreas divisum. I appreciate her so much!!! Hope you are doing great! Have a great day!
