I had my surgery by Dr. Sutherland on June 10th and about three days after

surgery they decided to put a pic line in. I as well have really bad veins they

always roll adn they are really hard to find. I'm sure they will watch you

closely to make sure you don't get an infection. So are you going through with

the Tp-ICT it sounds like you are. I hope all goes well. Dr. Sutherland is a

great doctor and is very understanding jsut let him know ahead of time about

your experiences. Good Luck with everything.

surgery did they put a picc line, central line or another port.

Just wondering ahead of time.

For sure, When I met with him, I had med records sent that date many years back

(pre-CP). It was interresting and helpful. It gave insight as to how I got this

way and what was going on, how I act and react to meds, etc. Dr Sutherland is so

super cool and something about a person named " " who was born on Christmas

Day and served in the Army during Nam, made me feel all warm and fuzzy. He is a

gentle, patient man who listens and listens and listens....:) TMI is not a bad

thing when it comes to something like this-Kathleen

PS...because my arms are shot from piccs, we would do a central line for me. If

you just tell him what you want, he'll do whatever you want. He LISTENS to you.

He gives you options and you choose

Leanne, I did not have my tp-auto ict in MN I had mine in OH. They put

in what is called an arterial line. However, I have had external and

internal jugular lines placed for other surgeries. I am not sure what

sutherland likes to use. I had an epidural with pain meds as well as a

pca pump. I had the art line and 2 peripheral lines placed when I had

the total and I was very comfortable until they pulled the epidural,

then I really felt it. I was in the ICU for 6 days then on the floor

for another week. Then I stayed in OH for a little over two weeks

after I was discharged from the hospital. I has been almost 10 months

since that surgery and I would do it all over again in a heart beat.

If there is anything you would like to know, please dont hesitate to

ask.

OHH and when are you going to have this.

Warmly,

(SC)

I had my tp/'ict in Minn. with Dr. Sutherland. I had a line in my neck

after I was there for a while recovering. Good thing that they put it in my

neck since I too had infection in my port and developed lots of scar tissue

which prevented me from having another port. It was no big deal putting a line

in my neck. It was fast and painless. They didn't leave it in very long. I

hope this information relieves some of your anxiety. Shirley
