Guest guest
Please tell my why Peanut Butter is a No No. It's on the legal list and in so many recipes. Now I could start to get a little overwhelmed if I feel Like I have close to nothing to feed her. I believe our Dr. Suggested this diet for the yeast over growth. But My daughter's issue with leaky gut subsided with GFCF diet but I know what we are doing is helping b/c she is going sometimes twice a day not loose either, than every other day. Christy [sPAM] Re: Fruit and honey Hi , Hi , I thought I'd put in my two cents worth. Our experience has been that the only fruit we've ever had problems with has been apples. (I guess we need to keep reminding ourselves to cut the peels off thickly enough to eliminate the pectin.) Our Gen has trouble with any more than one apple per day. Otherwise, fruit has been his favorite treat! (He's even requested a decorative fruit platter instead of an SCD birthday cake when birthday time came around.) With honey, we've had enough trouble that we went and found a nearby beekeeper who sends us a jar every so often. I suspect the large brand honey companies no longer know what goes into the honey they pack. (Most of it comes from abroad now, and so it makes it a lot more difficult for them to keep track of the various different pro- ducers, and quality. ) The bottom line for us has been that if something has gone wrong, it usually is because we've forgotten something in the protocol, and need to review the material. Vigilance! Starve those nasty gutbugs! -Allan.
Guest guest
Christy, please don't feel overwhelmed about the peanut butter. Peanuts are really a legume and therefore they are later in the diet. Try an easier to digest nut. I have cut and pasted from the pecanbread website. I left the part about cashews in here because it is relevant. Pearl Cashews are a starchy nut, beans or peanut butter are not as digestible as other permitted nuts. Cashews also contain powerful enzyme inhibitors. We strongly recommend you delay the introduction of cashews for as long as possible. Beans, even those properly soaked and pre-cooked, have the major disadvantage of containing too much starch and are another food to only be introduced when a child is in the advanced stage. The same principle applies to peanuts, which are actually legumes, not nuts, as are beans Again, please reserve peanuts and beans until a child is well advanced. Peanuts have other disadvantages. Peanut allergy is more common than tree nut allergy, so much so that it is now restricted from many schools and is even being removed from some commercial products. Peanut may also provoke gut reactions and cause GI distress. There is even a possablity that brain function is better on days when no peanut items have been consumed. --------------------------------- Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell.
