painful 'lumpy' areas in abdomen

I'm wondering if anyone else has this same problem. I'll do my best to describe

what I'm talking about so that hopefully it will make sense. I have two or

three areas in the right upper quadrant of my abdomen that feel like hard lumps

under the skin. They often become more pronounced and more painful when my

pancreas flares up. My typical panc pain is under my right rib (where my

gallbladder used to be) and radiates through to the back. When I'm having a bad

flare, I also have pain in the middle of my upper abdomen. The 'lumpy' areas

I'm talking about are near where I have the worst pain but not in the exact

spots. One 'lumpy' area begins about 2 to 3 inches from the bottom edge of my

right rib moving toward the center of my abdomen. This lumpy area is kind of a

group of several lumps, together they are about the size of my fist. Each lumpy

area feels like it is about as big around as large pen and about 1 to 2 inches

long. Sometimes they don't hurt at all and are not very prominent. However,

other times they hurt and are very tender to the touch and are larger and more

prominent.

I've had these 'lumpy' areas for the last 2 to 3 years but I don't think I've

ever pointed them out to my doctors. You can't feel them very easily when I'm

laying down and of course, the doctors examine my abdomen when I'm laying down.

Also, I tend to forget about them by the time I see the doctor because either

they aren't causing a problem or I'm in the ER having a bad flare and unable to

think about much besides my typical panc pain and nausea.

Does anyone else have these 'lumpy' areas or know what they might be?

I'm had several ct scans and mri over the last 3 years and nothing has been

mentioned on the test results.

thanks,

W
