Guest guest
Hi everyone It's a while since I've been here. You were so helpful to me in the early stages of SCD. My son Ben, now 10, and I are doing really well, sill strict SCD but gradually widening the number of foods we tolerate. However, my question is for a friend, age 8, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of colitis which causes bleeding. She has been told to go on a strict dairy-free diet and I wonder if any of you have every come across a list of additives that are dairy in origin. I know the obvious ones are whey, lactose, etc, but had a feeling there are some less obvious ones, including E numbers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as Mum and daughter are finding this overwhelming, but any deviation from dairy-free causes quite a bit of bleeding. thank you W SCD May 03 UK
Guest guest
Here is a detailed list of products with hidden milk content. http://www.foodreactions.org/articles/hidden_milk.html These E numbers can be of milk origin: 636, 637, 966, E101 (sometimes), E270 It is much easier to avoid any pre-packaged, ready-made food if a person has allergies/intolerances that are so severe. I have to make everything from scratch for my husband as he has had reactions to all sorts of things with an E on them. scd since april 2007
