Guest guest
Gynecomastia-cirrhosis Writing to about lumps in the abdomen prompted me to write about a lump that appeared two months ago in my left breast. It was diagnosed as gynecomastia. This can be caused by reaction to a medicine, by cirrhosis of the liver, or by cancer. The hospital doctor referred me to the visiting specialist who checked on the vitamins I was taking (no medicines) and found no indication of adverse reaction. He noticed spider web veins on my chest and said these were also a sign of cirrhosis. I am supposed to visit him again after a period of three months. Question: can cirrhosis develop from chronic pancreatitis? Since I was diagnosed for CP in the fall of 2000 I have not had any alcohol and have maintained a low-fat fish-based diet. I'm wondering if the vinegar and some other liquid sauce ingredients used in Japanese cooking might contain the alcohol elements that destroy the liver. Any comments? Is this just another one of those complications that come with pancreatitis? Blessings, Dave (Japan) ---- MAYER mayer@...
