Guest guest
Hi all, I 've read a book about Natural Cure for Autism by Maroon. One part of it where Dr Pouls treatment for Autistic kids. Basically her protocol is very similar with SCD to heal the gut by getting rid of candida. She is using cellulase enzyme and non dairy acidophilus and then to re-establish the integrity of the intestinal lining which is a necessary step in restoring digestion to optimum function and for these , she recommended: - L Glutamine An amino acid that supports the growth & function of the mucous membrane lining the gastrointestinal tract - N-Acetyl-Glucosamine (NAG): a form of glucosamine, a substance that aids in cartilage repair in joints; NAG is a precusor needed for production of glycoproteins, which form a rotective layer in the intestinal mucosa. Furthermore from another source: For supplemental use, glucosamine may be made in a laboratory. More often, however, it is obtained from natural sources such as the shells (also called exoskeletons) of crabs, lobsters, and other sea creatures. - Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA): an omega 6 essential fatty aid found in high concentrations in borage seed oil; GLA is a precursor of the anti-inflammatory prostaglandins - Gamma Oryzanol: A component of rice oil with therapeutic effects on gastrointestinal disorders - Slippery elm, a mucilage herb known for its ability to soothe & protect inflamed mucous membranes in the digestive tract. The above are citing from the book. My questions are; - L Glutamine is legal , slippery elm is illegal. How about the other three? NAG, GLA and Gamma Oryzanol? - Has anyone had experience with them before and the result? Any comment will be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance. GLA is also found in Evening Primrose Oil, and many of the studies relating to GLA involve EPO. I use it, myself, for inflammation relating to arthritis (along with salmon oil). In addition, GLA is useful for muscle spasms, and is, in fact, what allowed me to get off codeine for the muscle spasm resulting from a back injury in 1982. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
Marilyn, Would it be okay if I emailed you off list? My husband was in an accident in '98 and is on some strong meds as a result. I have a few questions. Guest guest
Hi: Someone posted notes from the DAN conference and it stated a doctor (I forgot who) said that L-Glutamine feeds yeast and so doesn't Slippery Elm. So I'm confused about this. Thanks Jeanne claricebellemum wrote: Hi all, I 've read a book about Natural Cure for Autism by Maroon. One part of it where Dr Pouls treatment for Autistic kids. Guest guest
Thanks for all the responses, for now I might start with the L- Glutamine supplement and GLA. Thanks again, Leena > > > > Hi all, > > > > I 've read a book about Natural Cure for Autism by Maroon. > > One part of it where Dr Pouls treatment for Autistic kids.
