Guest guest
Kurt, As long as you have had ANY problem with your pancreas alcohol is a no-no forever! If you do have that occasional drink you may not feel the effects of it right away, but you will someday. And if you can remember back to all the pain you have ever experienced in the past, ask yourself is it worth it?! Now I don't avoid sugar alcohols as they don't bother me and I have never gone out of my way to avoid mouthwash with alcohol as I don't drink it (Tee Hee!), but some people are just so sensitive that they can't even put it in their mouth with out a problem. My specialist told me that cooking with alcohol would be fine as the alcohol cooks off but the taste would remain. He also told me that I should be weary as my pancreas might get mad at the taste of the cooked wine. He was right! Didn't handle that very well. Won't be doing that again. It is a personal choice as far as mouthwash and cooking with it, but it is a universal NO-NO as for even drinking the so called non-alcoholic stuff. I look at that non-alcoholic stuff this way. If it were TRUELY non-alcoholic, my 14 year old would be able to purchase it. He can't. That tells me all I need to know. Sandy in Ca -------------- Original message -------------- I've seen several posts in recent months re avoidance of alcohol. Heidi mentioned avoiding non-alcoholic beers & wines since they still contain 0.5% alcohol, and she or someone warned also about cough medications that contain alcohol and even mouthwashes because of possible alcohol absorption.
