Guest guest
Maybe this has been covered before...but I am going to ask..does anyone here notice a cycle of weight loss then suddenly maintaining, and in fact, gaining some weight back (10 pounds, in my case) then for seems to be no appartent reason, start losing weight again? No diet changes, no exercise changes (I don't exercise)the only difference is that I am having more pain after I eat...but I purposely have made sure my intake hasn't gone down. So, does anyone else cycle like this, or am I just odd (don't think I don't know this anyway!) Anyone? Hugs, Suzi B. Colorado

Guest guest
Suzi, My weight will fluctuant too. Not the weight loss part so much, but the maintaining and gaining. Well, I guess losing too, but never further than I am right now. I may gain some and then will lose it it for no reason and then suddenly I am back where I was. I can't seen to lose the weight and keep it off. I am trying to look at that as a good thing actually. Because, God forbid I have a really bad attack, I have the weight to lose. Guest guest
Suzi, My weight fluctuates a lot. I can gain and loose ten pounds in one day on the same scale. My weight is not so yo-yo like now that I've started the gluten free diet, but in answer to your question: Yes, I gain weight for no apparent reason. At the endocrinologist this last time he commented on how in less than three months I have gained eleven pounds with my activity increasing and my food intake decreasing. However, every time I have been to his office my weight has been at least five pounds different than the time before. Guest guest
Suzi, Ever since I got CP I've had difficulty maintaining a stable weight. I've lost and gained back as much as 30 pounds three different times during the progress of the disease. In my closet are clothes from size 0 to size 6! I'm afraid to discard any of them because as soon as I do, I'll either lose or gain, and need them again, and it's too expensive to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Surely, for me, this fluctuation can be attributed to my diagnosed malabsorption. For the past 8 months or so I've finally been relatively stable, but I still have to be attentive because I can easily drop 5 pounds in a day or two if I'm not careful, or gain it just as easily. While I'm sure that some of this may be excess fluid, it's still baffling when something will fit just fine one day and be either too loose or too tight the next.
