If you are taking more than 4 grams per day, it could be toxic for your liver. I know we often think that these OTC medicines can't be harmful to us, but tylenol is one that can be. That's why most of us stay away from using too many narcotics that have tylenol in them. I'm not sure how much xtra strength tylenol has in each capsule or tablet, but I just wanted to caution you about taking too much. It's great news that you are doing better this week. Working full time must be so difficult, and I don't know how anyone could do it without feeling exhausted, run down and touchy. Just try to take it easy and be careful about the tylenol, okay? Guest guest
Heidi, Thanks for caring. I am trying not to take anything. I am taking maybe 1 or 2 800mg motrin a day & and about 2 x-tra strength tyl. a day. I am hoping this full time work is only temporary as we are REALLY SWAMPED. I work for a very popular oral surgeon. He is in his 60's & not in it for the money. He is a farmer as well and really old fashioned. He actually trades work like Dr's did long ago. He is so awsome. I would not work like this for any other boss. He is like a Father to me & my Father passed away when I was in my 20's. I love my job. On the weekends I just try and rest as much as possible. If I get really bad at work they send me home. I feal very fortunate to have this job. There are sooo many unemployed people. I count my blessings every day. He also pays me really well. If I go out on disability I get the max amount that they pay! Thanks for you input. It is always appreciated. I am on a list for pain management. I am waiting for a call. I have an HMO & will take months. Thanks again, K. Guest guest
, I can understand why you would want to keep a job like that. Having an employer who respects you, and one that you respect also, isn't like the jobs that some people have. You actually can enjoy working for someone like your boss, and that makes a tremendous difference. Even so, going through the problems of CP and dealing with the pain and fatigue like you do can make even the perfect job difficult at times, so just take it easy when you can. My warning about the tylenol was just to alert you to the hazards of taking too much of that medication. I believe that anything we can do to lessen the stress on our pancreas and related organs, we should do. A lot of people don't know about all the different products or medicine that can be hazardous for us CPer's, so I just wanted to make sure that you did know about tylenol and it's affect on the liver. Glad to hear that your doc still barters, (trades work). I did a lot of it myself when I was still working in my own business. I learned it from my father, as he would do it, too. He's an attorney, one of the good old fashioned types who probably only did two or three law suits in his entire 60 year career. But I know our driveway was paved and we got all the wiring done in our new house in the 60's without paying a dime....it turned out that the asphalt contractor and the electrician were both clients who Dad had done legal work for. I think there was a lot of that happening when I was young, as we never seemed to have a lot of money, but were never lacking for the services that other people could provide. Wish I'd known about your doctor when I had to have all that oral surgery done last fall - my oral surgeon didn't need a set of new home construction plans...darn, and my insurance only covered 50% of the bill! Take it easy on the tylenol, and I hope the remainder of your weekend is peaceful. Make sure you tell whoever it is that's lining up your PM doctor appointment that you'd like to be called if there are any regular patient's appointment cancellations. Sometimes that can get you in the door week's earlier. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
