Yes her name was and she was from Iceland but she didn't have to loose a significant amount of weight in order to be eligable for the MGB, that was her sister Fanney who lived at the time in NC, USA. was around 330 lbs. so she was within the limmit Dr. R. set. She didn't have life threatening episodes during other surgeries it was after the birth of her 4th girl that she suffered a little but no surgeries and she went to a Dr. here in Iceland and he ok-ed her for the surgery. She got a leak and the fact is that she was one of a 1% that couldn't/can't deal with the septic leakage and that is a known fact aperantly, that no matter what is done some people can't seem to fight the infection and too bad she was one of them. On a better news her sister Fanney moved to Iceland. She had the surgery 4 days before and she has lost 105 lbs. since April 6th 2000 but she has lost 250 lbs. since October 1999. I had the surgery done January 31st 2000, during the big snow storm in NC (I still think that it's funny to come from Iceland and get in a middle of a snow storm (though I didn't think it was so big)). Well I have lost around 120 lbs and feel just great. 's girls and husband are doing so, so. We don't celabrate Thanksgiven so that wasn't a bad holiday but with X-mas comming up I know it will hard for the family, so you may send them prayers during the holidays. For those who are thinking about the MGB I can just say that I would do it again in a flash and I trust Dr. R. to the fullest regarding the surgery and aftercare. Best of luck to all of you out there. Regards, from Iceland
Guest guest
, how wonderful to hear from you! I'm sure I speak for many of us " long-timers " on the list who think often and specially of you, Fanney, and 's family. I finally had the MGB on Friday, Nov. 17......the night before, I re-read all of Fanney's inspiring and touching posts and felt close to her still. I'm so happy to hear about your weight loss and Fanney's. My prayers are with you all, and with 's little girls. Please tell Fanney she is in our thoughts, and that she will always have friends on this list. We will never forget our Viking princesses!
