Guest guest
, The reason she doesn't just put me over to the harder stuff is because my husband drinks heavily and I just don't see how it is fair to my kid to have 2 parents doped up at the same time. If I can stay on a milder pain releaver and still function, then at least my son has 1 sober parent. I think thats a really important thing when you have children. She most likely will give me what I ask for. It really is me rejecting the continuous release stuff. But she did say if the Norco 10 doesn't work we will have no choice but to do the other. I know I did a bad thing this afternoon. We (husband and I) were out shopping for gardening things and household items. We had been out for about 3 1/2 hours and my husband started complaining of his knee hurting. He was really starting to limp. I know it hurts. He needs to have that surgery but doens't want to do it. Well, like an idiot I gave one of my norcos. It was all I had. Now 2 hours later he just told me likes my new meds. He said " I have NO PAIN at all. I feel so good " . I said to him it was a one time deal and I am glad he feels better. And I said " but truthfully, isn't really more medicine than you really need? Aren't you just a little " too high " off of it? " And he said " ya, but it feels good. " Geez, that scares me. He asked what it does for my pain (as he was pouring he first evening cocktail) and I told him makes the pain manageable. It doesn't take it all away by any means. I told him we all have to learn to deal with some pain in our life. We can't always look to pain meds to make it all better. I know pain is a sign something is wrong but it is also a part of aging. Good grief! What if he goes to the Dr. and asks for, and will get if he does, the same med. He doesn't need anything that strong and I know he will abuse it like what he has now. I have 2 friends who have lost their husbands less than a year apart. I am not trying to go their with mine. Thats why I am so worried about him taking so much tylenol, vicodin, 800 mg motrin and the alcohol all at the same time. And I can't exactly go to his doctor and say, Look, my husband is abusing the pills you give him because I frankley don't think he will believe me. And I know he does need some of it. My pharmacist says if you have to take more than 120 pills in a months time for pain relief, then you should be considering a patch or continuous release pill. My friend who just finished her externship at a different pharmacy says that pharmacist beleaves there is nothing to worry about if someone is taking as much as 12 vicodin a day or 350 (not a typo) vicodin or similar pill A MONTH. What number seems to be right? Sorry to rant so. I just really am concerned for my husbands health and don't really know how to go about helping him. Of course he has to want the help first and thats not even wanted at this point. Sandy in Ca I also dont understand why you cant just get the hydrocodone. Just doesn't make sense to me. I hope this helps.
