Re: yogurt--not tart

Although it's possible that you have just become accustomed to the

taste of the yogurt and the tartness doesn't strike you as much, I

would think that it's more likely that something didn't work this time

(too little starter, as you mentioned?) and I would give it only to non

SCDers. Lack of tartness would mean that not all the lactose was

consumed. Baking with it would not be a good idea--you would be eating

the lactose that was not consumed.

Hi Ellen,

Did you use Progurt starter? It is not as tart as Yogurmet starter

(starters with L. acidophilus)

If you haven't changed starters I wouldn't feed it to SCDers.

Thanks, Sheila and , for the help. Same old starter (Danon plain). I

remember thinking I was a little bit short of starter when I made the yogurt,

but figured it was close enough. Guess not....

I dumped 3 1/2 liters and kept a tupperware full for my personal (non-SCD)

snacking, just so my hard work and $ shouldn't go totally to waste. The

replacement batch will be done this evening :)

Thanks so much for the input. I really appreciate it.
