Hi All,

We started the intro Friday for our son (4 y/o with autism), offering

him everything listed on the ASD Intro List. By 5pm, he finally ate

some of the chicken pancakes. We decided to stay on the intro for 5

days tho b/c hubby accidentally gave him 4oz of undiluted apple cider

(which he had bought in advance b/c we live in a rural area & would

have it when ready) on Saturaday. He hasn't eaten one bite since the

chicken pancakes on Friday!! We have offered eggs cooked many ways, the

chicken soup, chicken meatballs, beef meatballs, chicken pancakes,

homemade jello, legal diluted grape juice & ice water. We are getting

scared as well as " comments " from family. Here are my current

questions: He LOVES bananas (only fruit he has ever eaten)...I am

afraid if we introduce bananas first, he will keep holding out for

bananas & not eat anything else. What do you think? Should we

introduce applesauce today first instead? And second, how long

does/should this " strike " last?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELP & SUPPORT!!!!

Christy

Hi, Christy,

There is no reason to be on the intro so long unless your son has

diarrhea. I think your instinct is good to not offer bananas just

yet. Try the applesauce. There is no set time these strikes last. Be

sure to keep him drinking. Hang in there.

Oh , thanks so much for your reply & support. We made the boiled

applesauce but he wouldn't touch it, so I added some of it to some

grape juice with ice & made a smoothie & he gulped it down. Just wish

he would eat some protein or the carrots (sigh...). Since bacon is an

advanced food, would it be to soon to introduce boiled/broiled pork

chops & grind with egg & maybe some applesauce for a pancake for

variety??

Thanks again for being so helpful!

Hi,

Just jumping in--someone posted awhile back about making popsicles of all

kinds. Fruits, vegetables and I think her name was but I'm not

positive. She had great results with it sounded like. Maybe someone can

post those for you.

There you go! Getting to be a sneaky mom! The popsicle idea is a

good one, too.

Just wish

You can put these in popsicles or smoothies, too.

Yes, absolutely.
