Guest guest
My son is 2 1/2 years old and was just diagnosed with autism about a month ago. We've been on the diet for a little over 2 weeks and within the last week or so I've been adding a soy based probiotic to his juice. He's normally a very easy going kid with very few normal 2 year old tantrums but since I've started the probiotic he's been having chronic sinus trouble and bouts of screaming and tantrum throwing. I'd like some opinions as to whether this could be a die-off or an intolerance to the soy or both.
Guest guest
Hi April, Welcome to the list! I cannot tell whether this could be a die-off or an intolerance to the soy or both. However, I would recommend to only use the SCD legal brands of probiotics, There are SCD legal probiotics in the probiotic section of www.pecanbread.com Doing 100% SCD gives so much more powerful results than doing 99% SCD. I should know since I am the mother of two kids who are on the diet. One is doing the diet 100% while the other cheats about once a week or once a month. There is an amazing difference in their progress.. Mimi > > > > > > > My son is 2 1/2 years old and was just diagnosed with autism about a > month ago. Guest guest
Hi, April, There are only 2 legal probiotics on SCD-- legal forms of acidophilus and S. Boulardi. Soy is not legal on SCD. Try changing to a legal probiotic and maybe go back to the intro diet for a couple of days. Let us know how this works. mom to -12 SCd 4/23/
Guest guest
I checked out the probiotics on the website but I couldn't find any that were in powder or liquid form. Does anyone have a specific brand they like? April wrote: Thanks. pecan post wrote: Hi April, Welcome to the list! I cannot tell whether this could be a die-off or an intolerance to the soy or both. Guest guest
SCDophilus is a capsule, but you could open it and sprinkle on the powdery contents. mom to alex-12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Do you know if it remains active if you put it in juice? Guest guest
Hi April, <<Do you know if it remains active if you put it in juice? > > April>> Yes, as long as the beverage or food is cool or cold it will be fine. Hot foods or liquids will kill the good bacteria. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Hi April we were advised by our biomed to remove soy, as well as corn, Gluten and Caesin right off the bat, even before our first appointment. A lot of ASD kids have trouble with soy. hope this helps, since I took them all out at once I cant say whether it will reduce those chronic tantrums (and I know how bad it gets!) - but I can say since being free of all these things for 6 months and now SCD for a few days my little one certainly hasnt had one of the violent tantrums he used to have for about a month now. My head is once again safe from saucepans lol. Cheers Kylie > > My son is 2 1/2 years old and was just diagnosed with autism about a > month ago.
