I;m totally depressed over this nightmare of symptoms!!!! Please describe is a PICC line permanent like a Port? All details appreciated. I was hurting yesterday just watering my lawn. UNREAL! Thanks to all, Shybasset We had a visiting nurse come and teach us how to use and care for Chris' PICC line. She did it the first time, then we did it from there. You have a list of steps to follow that are written down and it is really simple. started doing his own feedings and line care. It would block sometimes and if the nurse came over and couldn't get it flowing, it was a trip to the ER for a replacement. We never had any infection and after four lines, he finally got off the TPN and hasn't had need for a line since then. If you have to have one, it is easier to manage than lots of other things.
