Guest guest
Hi all, I've been going through a rough time. I went through that aweful surgery to remove a cyst from my pancreas then I had another attack the beginning of Aug. I was in the hospital here in my hometown for 3 days. My dr decided to remove my fentanyl patch when I was so sick I didnt know how I was going to live. When my levels went back up he couldnt figure out why! Could it have been because I was having horrible withdrawals?! Anyone who has used fentanyl knows that you have to be weened off of it! But because he was the doc he thought he knew better. Anyway when my levels kept climbing he decided I needed to be in a bigger hospital where a GI doctor could care for me. I was rushed by ambulance an hour away to the other hospital. I was in the hospital ther for another 5 days. As soon as I got there and talked to the dr who would be taking care of me and told him what my local dr had done about the fentanyl patch he said what? I cant believe he did that to you when youre so sick! He slapped a patch on me asap. They put in a pic line before I left the hospital. I've had a home health nurse coming to my house 2 times a week to change my dressing and draw blood. I switched drs to say the least after the episode with my other dr. He put me on another med and I threw away my patches. I had no withdrawals at all. The dr said that the med he put me on will be much easier to ween me from than the patch. I've already cut my dose in half and I'm working my way down. I still cringe everytime I get the smallest twinge other my normal pain. I guess its going to take a while before I get over my paranoia. Well, I guess I've rambled on enough. Thanks for lending a ear, Rhonda
