Guest guest
Rhonda, You certainly did the right thing when you got rid of that first doctor. Sometimes we get the ones who think they are God and they aren't at all. I had one like that as my first GI and he really messed everything up. I had all the symptoms of diabetes and he totally missed it. He said my frequent urination, dry mouth, thirst, drinking gallons of water a day, weight loss and blurred vision was all due to something else....a new medication I was taking...HAH!! Of course, he was wrong, and I went into DKA shock!! So sometimes you have to put your foot down and find a real GI who knows what he's doing, and really understands CP. That's quite a story about the fentanyl patch removal. I'm surprised that you didn't have an awful time with withdrawal. What is the new medication that your new doctor put you on to replace the fentanyl patch? I'm always interested to hear what works for other people. It sounds like you're doing much better now and things are looking up. I hope this continues for you. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth hhessgriffeth@... Guest guest
Hello Heidi, Yes, I had horrible withdrawals when he just pulled it off without weening me from the patch. The new Dr put me on Methadone.( I hate to say that word. It always reminds me of a junky)anyway the new dr gave them to me at a dosage of 3 tablets 3 times a day. I tried 3 but it made me so sleepy. I went down to 2. I felt pretty good. No withdrawals from the patch. So now I'm down to 4 or 5 a day. It feels about right. It gives great pain relief without making me so woozie. I'm still on the tpn but I'm down to 18 hours on 6 hrs off. I've had a really hard time with constipation and stools that are almost white (does anyone know why?) I hate bringing up these subjects but who else do you ask? My tummy has been really bloated and tender. Every time I get the slightest stabbing pain in my belly I start to pray. Please don't let this be another attack. But, I'm sure you feel the same way. Anyway thanks for responding to my last post. Rhonda
Guest guest
Rhonda, Those white stools mean that you have malabsorption problems. Most of us do. Are you taking pancreas enzyme supplements? With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth hhessgriffeth@... SC and Southeastern Regional Rep. Pancreatitis Association, Intl.
