Guest guest
Hey everyone I hope this reaches everyone in good health and no pain. I hate to be the downer of the group...but I have had pancreatits since I was 10 yrs old. I was stupid enough to play football in elem school and coach threw me the ball and it hit my pancreas. For the past 19 yrs now I have lived with this illness. I have been on almost every drug (pain and enzymes) known to man...and many a time I have been a guinea pig for docs to figure out how bad my pancreas is working and what test's help to diganose. When I tell ppl what I have they usually say " You look so healthy " I am writing this to make sure everyone makes sure that everyone's tummies are in working order. When I was on pure morphine 300mlg's every 3-4 hrs. I was admitted twice for a " Mega Colon " and trust me you don't want to go in with that diagnose's. I was very lucky that I had someone near me that helped me get past that bad time. My pain is still going on and the no sleeping at nite is getting really old. Sonata is a lot better then ambien. When I took ambien I tended to want to cook stuff (bacon mostly) and if it wasn't for my ex I would have burned down the whole apt complex. A good alternative to the patch is something called Avinza I am up to 60 mgs a day....it is a long lasting morphine...you don't get that fuzzy headed kind of thing and you can fuction on it very well. I did finally get disablity after getting turned down three times and I did get it with the diagnosis of Pancreatits...which I have heard is the hardest to prove to the GOV that you actually are sick. If anyone is in Tennessee and has questions about disablity or TennCare...please feel free to post here or send me email.... Hope that everyone is having a good nite and take care all... Guest guest
I had Avinza prescribed to me when I got in to see a pain management doctor...I couldn't take it as I was at home during the day alone with my daughter and the last 8 hours of taking the 24 hour release, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I had to get my husband to call me from work every hour to check if I was awake....I realise that I would have gotten used to it eventually, but I couldn't take the risk with how long it would have taken...also had the same problem with Neurontin....couldn't keep awake with that stuff, even the lowest dosage... Yet Morphine, Dilaudid & Percocet & Fentanyl keep me wide awake... I'm just glad I don't need them on a regular basis anymore.. ward
Guest guest
Please sign your name in your posts so we can know who to address. I'm very interested in finding out more about this med called Avinza. I've never heard of this and am very glad to hear that it's working so well for you. I also got my disability with chronic pancreatitis listed as my disability. There were several other conditions listed that also came into play, but it was the chronic pancreatitis that made the determination of disability. Thanks for your offer of help, I'm sure someone will post about it. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth hhessgriffeth@... SC and SE Regional Rep Pancreatitis Association, Intl.
