Guest guest
Has anyone tried the new Healing Foods cookbook? http://www.cookingforceliacscolitiscrohnsandibs.com/index.php I'm looking for some inspiration in the kitchen and was curious if this might be one to try. Anyone know if it has recipes that are useful to those on the early stages of SCD or if the recipes are mostly advanced ones? K in Dayton, Ohio Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Fibro, CFS, yeast/candida, copper overload, adrenal fatigue (mostly healed!!!) Kids: son Rhowan 5 yrs old, chronic diarrhea/loose stools, yeast/candida, ADHD, salicylate intolerance; daughter Willow 6.5 yrs old, mild GI issues, yeast/candida, salicylate intolerance, NT Started SCD June 2006, went slightly off for awhile in Nov 2006, back on strict SCD starting May 2007. (Redid intro the last week of June 2007 and recently discovered that most carbs have to be thoroughly pureed in order for my son to tolerate them). Sept 07 UPDATE: Seeing MAJOR improvement in behavior and slight improvement in salicylate tolerance, son has FINALLY potty-trained, and he is having frequent " trophies. Guest guest
I just got mine in the mail today. Healing Foods definitely has ‘inspired’ me! It has beautiful BIG photos and it doesn’t seem too exotic. There’s good basic family stuff plus other delectable looking things. I like that there are quite a few sauce recipes since I think a simple sauce on a bowl of chicken and vegies can make a big difference. There are a variety of ‘stages’ of ingredients, many for where we’re at (2 moving into 3). I also love the books’ size and just its general appearance. Makes me want to cook! I think I’ve got all the SCD cookbooks that are available and one that I’ve ordered that isn’t even available yet. This one has class and can’t be missed! 3 ½ , autism _____ From: pecanbread [mailto:pecanbread ] On Behalf Of Kuykendall Sent: Saturday, October 20, 2007 5:48 PM To: pecanbread Subject: New Healing Foods cookbook? Guest guest
Thanks so much for the review. I think I'll order a copy. Sounds like it might be just the inspiration I need. :-) K > > I just got mine in the mail today. Healing Foods definitely has `inspired' > me! Guest guest
in addition to this one, what other cookbook would you highly recommend for simple, relatively quick to prepare meals that kids would be interested in eating? I have a small collection of excellent healthy foods/allergy-related cookbooks but they have a lot of the " exotic " meals that my kids won't touch. My husband and I have always been adventurous eaters, but the kids -- forget it! Thanks Rose > I just got mine in the mail today. Healing Foods definitely has > ‘inspired’ > me! Guest guest
I LOVE Lucy's SCD cookbook. http://lucyskitchenshop.com/cookbook.html There are many simple, basic, practical recipes in it. Everything that I've tried from it has been easy to prepare, easy to find ingredients for, and yummy! My kids love most of the stuff I've tried from it. We have quite a number of staple recipes that we use from this cookbook. K SCD since June 2006 > > > I just got mine in the mail today. Healing Foods definitely has > > `inspired' > > me!
