Guest guest
I love this group- where else can one practice the art of describing a poop. Anyway, we are on SCD to try to alleviate my older son's dysbiosis, and my younger son's yeast issues. My older son's poops are becoming much more solid on a regular basis, but I still see pieces of carrot when ever he eats them. It seems this is one food that is consistantly not digested. My question is, is this normal for everyone? I know, for example, that corn (we aren't eating corn now, this is just an example)- typically does not get fully digested. Are carrots the same way? I don't seem to see it in my younger son's BMs- sometimes do in mine. Thanks in advance for your thoughts- Tracey
Guest guest
I remember reading Elaine's caution about carrots, and I have taken them out of our diet because we have the same problem (we are all SCD). Some carrots are so woody and fiberous, I doubt that anyone digests them. Not only are they hard to digest but like everything else that doesn't get digested, they become a banquet for bad belly bugs. We don't eat them anymore. Maybe you should think about this for your son too. Tracey Dodenhoff wrote: I love this group- where else can one practice the art of describing a poop. Guest guest
It seems to me used to have this problem, but no longer. Have you tried boiling the carrots for 4 hours? mom to -12 SCd 4/23/
Guest guest
My SCD counselor (Patti) had suggested the same thing- and we stopped for a while, but it sounds like they just need to be off limits. Do you know if there are any issues with carrot juice? Guest guest
I haven't heard of any issues with carrot juice. Try it in small amounts. It does need to be diluted; it's a big dose of fruit sugar (root sugar?) if you don't. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
