Question? My pancreatic pain has been constant for some time now. I have

followed much advice from the web postings and some have shown a positive

difference within my symptoms. However I have been having some trouble with the

pain medications that have been prescribed to me. Orginally I was prescribed

Demerol 50mg which caused severe nausea so the doctor advised me to take gravol

50mg to relieve my nausea but this made things worse by leaving me completely

disoriented. I was then prescribed percoet with helped a little however I began

to have strong headaches and my gp advised me that long term useage of this

medication can result in liver damage. So, he recently placed me on oxycontin

15mg 3times daily. however this drug without a douubt stimuates my pancreas to

burn as if I am on the verge of having another acute attack of pancreatitis, not

to mention the most painful headaches I have ever experienced in my short life

of 35years. Does anyone know of another medication that will give me some better

relief from the pain, nausea and headaches. I am beyond everything at this

point. This form is my only hope can anyone help me? peace and god bless

.

Other long acting medications would be the Duragesic Patch. It comes

in strengths of 25 mcg., 50 mcg., 50 mcg. and 100 mcg. and provides

coverage from 48 to 72 hours.

Other short acting analgesics are: morphine, dilaudid, methadone,

oxycodone and hydrocodone. All of these medications are NOT mixed

with aspirin or tylenol, as several other medications often used are,

so they carry no danger to your liver if used for long term use.

Karyn recently posted an excellent article on pain medications, which

I unfortunately can't remember the title of at this minute. I'll look

it up and post it as soon as I find it.

With love, hope and prayers,
