I can't find the message I promised to reply to when I found out where

there might be a good specialist in NY, but my friend's father just got

back to me and he says as far as top-notch hospitals in NYC, he

recommends Columbia Presbyterian. He can't swear by any specific docs

or specialists, but he has worked in NYC area for a long time and that

hospital is very well respected. I am going to research some docs

there. Let me know if you hear anything too.

K,

I found this guy in New Brunswick. I have not been to him. He works

out of a University hospital there and specializes in the pancreas.

But to see him you need a refferal.

The last name is Manoukien (sp)?

Hi

I'm not sure who is looking for a specialist in NYC but there Dr. Bernard

Stark, He works at LIJ, in Queens, He is not a pancreas specialist as per

say but he does have an interest in the pancreas and he did save my life

when I had my first attack. Dr. Sstark works with another Doctor at his

practive named Dr. Simmy Bank who is very well known for his research on the

Pancreas (he created a severity scale for pancreatitis - something to do

with that I don't remember). Dr. Simmy Bank does not do proceedures anymore

that is why I actuallly see Dr. Stark but Dr. Bank always goes over my

charts and looks at my scans. Also don't confuse Dr. Simmy Bank with Dr.

Banks in Boston. They are both well known for their work with the

pancreas. In fact I see Dr. Banks when I am away at school.

I am in PA, actually. Right on the border of NJ. So it would be a 1

hour 45 min. bus ride to NY for me but worth it for a good doc. The

2 I found at Columbia Presbyterian are not covered by my

insurance...GI docs who specialize in Pancreatic diseases. So I

don't know if it's worth ti to go with some other GI doc at that

hospital or try to find some " expert " somewhere else in NY. Let me

know how you do in your search.
