Two Month Update

Hi Group. I just wanted to drop a note on my two month anniversary. I had

surgery on 9/28/00. I have lost 35 lbs, which is on the very low end of the

average loss at this stage, using the predictor from the clos.net site, but I

am still thrilled. How else could I lose 17.5 lbs a month. I don't think I

ever lost more than 2 lbs a week on a starvation diet! I have to say

sometimes I do feel envious of the people who had surgery about the same

time I did who have lost so much more than I have. But as PhillyJude says

someone has to be the low average right? Here's the real good part. I have

not had to take diabetes meds since the day before surgery and my average

blood sugar is about 110. I feel so much better than I have in a long

time. I have not used my C-Pap for sleep apnea in a month. I sleep like a

rock and wake up refreshed. My muscle and joint pain are pretty much gone

also. If I have muscle and joint pain now its because I have overdone the

exercise. I have been walking at least 3 times a week and I don't even have

to force myself to do it. I have not dumped or vomited. I have normal BMs.

My new tummy is fussy sometimes but I never throw up. I have tried a few

new foods but still prefer cottage cheese, yogurt, soup and fruit to just

about anything. Its hard to explain and it took some getting used to food

not giving me the same satisfaction as before. You can hardly wait to eat

something because you think its going to taste so good and when you do, it

just isn't what you thought it would be. I do not feel hungry. I have to

remind myself to eat. I never thought I would say that in my life! I

actually think my tummy holds less now than when I was a new post op. And

people have started to really notice the loss now which is nice of course.

So I thank God and Dr R for a chance to be healthy again and be able to

enjoy my life again.

from Michigan
