Guest guest
Hi all, We (my 3.5 yo son and I) began SCD 4 days ago, for the first two days he ate nothing and turned his nose up at everything. I moved to stage one after 48 hrs and now he is picking at his food and drinking boiled pear juice, pear juice (previously not boiled), is what he has always had his supps in. This morning I tried an uncooked banana with him and he threw it up all over the couch, so will be cooking them again for the next 3 months. We are egg and dairy free and trying to keep things low oxylate as well, and I have done a lot of research, and still waiting on the SCD books I ordered, but used the intro of foods as listed on pecanbread.com. He has been complaining of pains in his left outer hip and his tummy (which I guess is inevidible), and he has the runny nose. His sleeping has been broken over the past few nights probably due to hunger I imagine but he is stil only picking at his food. I spent the whole day today cooking and freezing, banana, apple and pear mashes, mashed pumpkin, meat and chicken balls (boiled), and veggies, so we probably have enough for nearly a week. I was looking into what we can do down the track and found that to keep things lowox coconut flour was an option, problem is he doesnt like coconut (which is a pity I do and was hoping to get into making kefir later on). So maybe we will use pecan nut flour. I have noticed something funny, as my son is ASD he has always had a funny accent, but yesterday and today his voice sounds much more like a little boy (maybe he is just feeling happier), its quite weird. Another thing I have noticed already is that he is quite sooky and this is what he was like when we went GF,SF,CF,YeastF, 6 months ago so I take it as a good sign. Anyway just thought Id post our experiences so far and will update with anything interesting as time goes on. Cheers Kylie

If you have a juicer you don't need to boil pears to get the juice. Just make sure pulp is removed at the beginning of the diet andthat the juice is diluted. << This morning I tried an uncooked banana > with him and he threw it up all over the couch, so will be cooking > them again for the next 3 months.>> Was the banana ripe - yellow with brown spots/freckles? << We are egg and dairy free and > trying to keep things low oxylate as well, and I have done a lot of > research, and still waiting on the SCD books I ordered, but used the > intro of foods as listed on pecanbread.com. Some kids lose their appetite when the symptoms are intense. You can help ease die off with epsom salt baths and/or activated charcoal. scroll to the bottom of this page:http://pecanbread.com/new/temporarysymptoms.html <<is he doesnt like coconut (which is a pity I do and was hoping to get into making kefir later on). Kefir is also a very advanced food that Elaine didn't recommend until one was doing very well on the diet (most children should be symptom free). Coconut kefir made with green coconut or young coconuts isn't SCD legal because the green coconuts aren't ripe.
