Guest guest
Hi, we started Kirkman Sacc boulardi a week and a half ago, all fine I think. Then on Friday I started Sienna on Prozymes from GI Health - 2x per meal (previously we used Kirkman DPP1V Isogest formula since April - no fruit - and before that the DPP1V version with fruit derivatives so she is very used to enzymes). Then on Saturday I started Sienna with 1x SCDophilus from GI Health and the next day (Sunday) and today (Monday) she has diarrhea. Her foods have not changed in 3 months. Same strict food list, stage 1 only, just rotated. So could this two day diarrhea be an initial reaction to the SCDophilus? Or something else? She had proper firm stools for the past 2.5 months since she came out of her die-off reaction to SCD. We used to use probiotics before SCD but when we went SCD in June 07 I stopped the illegal probiotics and this is the first time since starting SCD that she's had them. Any advice gratefully received! Simone Mum to Sienna (ASD - 4 years old) SCD since June 07 London, UK

I'd restart with the enzymes and do that for a few days of good stools so that you know it is tolerated. After that, if all is well try half a dose or less (some dissolve it in water and give a portion of the water) of the SCDophilus to start and split it up so that 1/2 of the day's total amount is in the morning and then half in the pm. Are you giving the SCDophilus at the same time as the enzymes? It may be die off causing the diarrhea and not intolerance. When you restart these supplements going slow and using epsom salt baths may help prevent more diarrhea from returning.
