Guest guest
Hello. My name is Adrienne and I have a four year old daughter with autism. She has been GFCF for a year now and taking several supplements to detox her system and remove yeast. We also started Risperdal to help her mood and anxiety. The diet helped improve her eye contact, but not much more. The medication has helped her moods slightly, but we just started it a week and a half ago. I read on another chat group about this diet. I have order the book " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " and am waiting for it to come in the mail. So right now I only have a few questions: 1. Are most people that are on the SCD diet also gluten and casein free? 2. Do people also use enzymes and how do you know which ones to use? Thank you, Adrienne
Guest guest
SCD is gluten free, and can be casein free too, just drop the cheese and cow's milk yogurt. I use No Fenols and Zyme Prime. That's what works best for my family. Adrienne wrote: Hello. My name is Adrienne and I have a four year old daughter with autism. Guest guest
Welcome, Adrienne, Here is the link to legal enzymes. http://pecanbread.com/new/enzymes1.html Besides yogurt and cheese, you should leave out butter if you are trying to be casein free. But if you make or buy clarified butter (ghee) than you have taken out the casein and you can use it (although some are still concerned and use other fats instead such as coconut oil). mom to -12 SCD 4/23/

Guest guest
The diet is automatically gluten free, by virtue of being entirely grain free. Many of us with kids on the autistic spectrum successfully have them on goat milk yogurt made according to the SCD guidelines. My own daughter takes enzymes from Houston neutraceuticals to deal with any casein problems that might cause and also the No-Fenol enzyme to help her process the fenol load in the many fruits and veggies she eats. I'm new. Don't take what I say as being very authoritative. Alana mom to 13 y.o. dd ASD on diet since 9-15 > Hello. My name is Adrienne and I have a four year old daughter with > autism.
