Hi,

I am new to SCD as of last Sunday with our little one who is ASD (5

years old). We have done lots of biomedical with a DAN! doc for 2

years, but never tried the SCD. Our guy has lots of yeast problems

and we have used antifungals and probiotics like crazy for past 2

years. I started the SCD with absolutely no supplements at all. But

I know we will need to again when we start the antifunal/Valtrex

(anti-viral) protocal that Stan Kurtz talks about (MB12-Valtrex yahoo

group). We have given my son lots of differnt probiotics that he can

tolerate and was giving him VSL#3 before starting SCD, but after

reading the info on the Pecanbread website see that we will need to

do something different. But I would like to know if Threelac is SCD

legal. Has anyone used this with good results? I know

McCarthy said good things about this product and did antifungal

therapy with her kiddo. I'm not sure that she did the SCD however.

Would S-Boulardii and/or Lactobacillus Acidophilus be a better choice

at start of SCD?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi, ,

The soil-based organisms in Threelac are illegal.

It would be better, as you suggest, to use S-Boulardii and/or

Lactobacillus Acidophilus.

What???!!! I am new to this journey as my son, Matt, was diagnosed in August.

He is on ThreeLac, supplemented with acidophilus and bifidus from Natren - I was

told they are the best. I don't even know about the bacteria you mentioned -

what is its significance and where do I get it? Will ThreeLac not do the trick

on his yeast? Ah, another big chunk o'change down the drain.....

Thanks for any help/insights you can offer. Diane

Hi Ellen,

<<<<Are any SCD-legal probioitics found in retails stores????>>>>>

I don't know about retail stores. In Canada, there is a pharmacy that

sells them in Toronto. Other than that up north most order from the

company or from the internet.

I am able to buy my yogurt starter at the grocery store. (But it has a

huge mark up so I buy it straight from the company: Lyosan)

<<<< Is it true that one Culturelle is legal and one is not?>>>>>

Elaine only wanted SCDers to take L. acidophilus as a probiotic

bacteria and allowed S. boulardii as a probiotic yeast.

Culturelle is not l. acidophilus, so it isn't legal.

I think Natren is superb for probiotics, theirs ar ethe industry standard, and

her methods have been read into the Library of Congress....they are extremely

helpful, and if there is any error they correct it right away. We are using

them at this time for our son, and can't say enough good things so far. Don't

order without talking to someone though....we thought we needed one thing, and

wound up with another much better strategy. Diane

Are any SCD-legal probioitics found in retails stores???? Is it true that one

Culturelle is legal and one is not?

Thanks,
