Guest guest
Can someone point me to a place where I can read about symptoms of yeast overgrowth in Autistic kids, or what that looks like while following the SCD diet? I'm wondering about my daughter. Lots of head banging and crying lately. I'm wondering if I should try treating her for yeast. If so, would oil of oregano be a good place to start? Guest guest
There's a book called The Yeast Connection by Crooks. It's pretty old (around 1983 I think) but this doctor discovered numerous health problems related to yeast overgrowth including autism (and that was in 1983 when it wasn't nearly as common). I believe my son has a yeast problem as well and as soon as I started him on a probiotic he started throwing tantrums more frequently (he's 2 1/2 so a small amount is normal but this was more than that) and his nose starting running which could either be an allergy or a sign of yeast. I'm planning on having my doctor test him for both next time we go. As for Oil of Oregano I haven't used it but I think the probiotic is working. Guest guest
Call the folks at Natren and see if you can slip some of their stuff into those shakes. So happy with their GFCF digesta lac, Magadophilus, and Bifus products. They have one Healthy Trinity that led us to them in the first place, but it isn;t the way to go for kids. We have our baby on their Life Start. I think m said soemthing in her book about her son throwing up yeast, and I wondered what that must look like....perhaps it is something like what happened with your son. Di Re: Yeast symptoms? Guest guest
For that kind of pain, I wouldn't go straight to oil of oregano. Ask yourself if you were in that kind of pain, how would you treat yourself...if you come up with that answer, a hit or miss natural...there are so many naturals to choose from after all....proceed. I think if you were in that kind of pain, you would go for something strong and very effective, and follow up with tons of good probiotics. It has to really hurt to create headbanging...my son was very yeasty and did some self abusive stuff, but it still fell short of headbanging. Ouch. We are on ThreeLac, products by Natren, and I would have done Diflucan or one of the azoles at one point if I could have gotten it for him...we have made some inroads though with what we tried and for now he seems to be feeling much better, and the worst of his yeast symptoms have subsided. Good luck.
