Has anyone on this list ever tried EMPowerplus nutritional supplements from

Truehope ?

I've just been reading about it in the newspaper and on their website,

www.truehope.com . According to the summary published on their site, there have

been some very positive clinical trials using this supplement for treating

bipolar and other mental health problems, including ADHD, Asperger's, OCD, ODD,

and others:

<<A group of scientists from three Alberta universities and the Alberta

Children's Hospital published the results of 11 unselected children with mood

and behaviour problems. The diagnoses of the children included attention deficit

hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder

(ODD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Asperger syndrome, generalized

anxiety disorder (GAD), Prader-Willi Syndrome depression, anxiety and rage. The

children were assessed for a minumum of 8 weeks on an adult dose of EMPowerplus,

which was well-tolerated. Outcomes were measured with the Young Mania Rating

Scale (YMRS), the Youth Outcome Questionnaire (YOQ), and the Child Behaviour

Checklist (CBCL).

Results: For all 9 children who completed the trial, the supplement was

clinically beneficial, and all effect sizes were large (>.8). Improvement was

significant on the YOQ (measuring children's mood, physical symptoms, self-harm

behaviour, interpersonal relationship problems, social problems, and attention

problems), the YMRS (measuring symptoms such as irritability and disruptive

aggressive behaviours), and 7 of the 8 CBCL scales (withdrawn behaviour,

anxious/depressed mood, social problems, thought problems, attention problems,

delinquent behaviour, and aggressive behaviour). >>

The references to the medical journals and original articles are given on the

site. There have also been?other studies with adults.

There is also a book that came out recently by Autumn Stringam, who was cured of

her suicidal bipolar by this supplement. It was discovered, developed?and now?is

now sold by her father who started the Truehope company.

I think it's worth a try. In Canada, it is classed as a natural supplement (not

a drug), and is apparently a particular blend of vitamins and minerals. But I'd

be interested to hear of anyone who has tried it and what their experiences have

been.

Cheers, (in Canada, mom to Josh, 14, AS, and Leah, 13, NT)
