Hi. I'm Amy, mother of four children, 8 and under and I have Crohn's

Disease.

I'm wanting to start the diet and put my children on the diet, also.

I've had many surgeries and actually also have a few strictured areas

that I'm concerned about. I also have advanced osteoporosis due to

too much prednisone and am just really fed up with the drugs, etc.

I'm currently not on anything and really just need to make this huge

change for our family. I'm wanting to put my children on this diet

because I believe it would provide them great nutrition and some

protection from acuiring the same disease that I have.

My first question is, in regards to vitamins, I take a B-complex,

calcium (2400 mg/day) and a multi-vitamin by Shaklee. I also am

drinking a tea called " Mother's Milk " . I'm not sure if these things

are o.k. for me to be taking/drinking while on the diet?? I'm

nursing a baby, too so that's why I'm drinking this tea each day.

My next question is, do my children need to start off on the

Beginner's diet, too, since they don't have Crohn's or Autism?? Is

doing the beginner's diet the only way that they will benefit from

this diet?

Next, I noticed that the beginner's diet on Pecan Bread lists some

other foods for the intro diet that the book doesn't? Am I crazy or

are there different foods allowed if you are doing the diet for

Autism rather than for Crohn's?

My last question is should I be using COW's milk for yogurt or Goat's

milk? I called all over yesterday, trying to find someone close by

who would have fresh Goat's milk but couldn't find anyone because

most people said that it's " breeding season " for goats. I don't like

the milk they carry in the healhfood stores..........I think it

tastes really " goaty " and my kids don't like it, either. I did find

an amish family who has fresh raw cow's milk? I seem to be really

sensitive to cow's milk and am not sure that I won't be sensitive to

the yogurt, even if I do let it ferment for 24 hours.

All in all, I'm nervous and scared. I want to be here for my kids and

also want to prevent them from getting this dreadful disease. I'm

excited to make the change. I just had a biopsy (my dr.'s thought I

might have lymphoma because of enlarged lymph nodes). I don't want

to have another surgery.........so I'm trying to avoid anything that

will cause obstructions, etc.

Thanks for any help......I'm really wanting to start this diet soon!

Sincerely,

Amy
