Pain Management during surgery

Hey there, I am coming off a rough night, so forgive any reambling

or misspellings.

I wanted to pose this question to and anyone else who's

had major surgery for the pancreas.

What did you use for pain management, epidural or IV? How did it

work for you? I am nervous about the epidural, because I've heard

they fall out and you can't feel your legs, etc. I want to make

sure I get the best pain management for my upcoming Whipple.

This time next week, I will be sleeping soundly (hopefully) as they

remove the head and neck of my pancreas. I am a little nervous

about the sleeping soundly part, because the last time I was under I

kept waking up and fighting with the anesthiaologist doc and

nurses. When I was truly coherent they told me that I had to be

held down by 5 people to finish...and that was only a 15 minute

process to take out some stents. Great!

Hope everyone is feeling okay...
