Guest guest
My mother-in-law has a tradition in early December where she invites all her grand-kids over to build gingerbread houses. As you might imagine, it is more like a skittle/m&m gorge fest. I am trying to create an SCD legal gingerbread version so my kids can be with thier cousins, but not just sitting on the sidelines. I am going to try the gingerbread cookie recipe to see if it is firm enough to use in a gingerbread mould, but would appreciate insights if anyone else has done this before. I am thinking I can make SCD legal meringue for the glue, and have nuts, raisins, chopped dates, and other goodies for them to decorate the house. Looking forward to everyone's thoughts- Tracey
Guest guest
You can use fake candy or small holiday toys for the docorating. These are usually available around the holidays. You can make candy from boiled honey and add legal colorings. You can also use fruit puree and dry in thin sheets cut holiday shapes that they can use for decorating. I make my gingerbread house out of cardboard first and then use the icing glue to stick all the gingerbread on it. You could use the almond cracker recipe. It looks similar. Good luck.
