Guest guest
I was told by a specialist ( my 3rd opinion one) that if I refused any medicine that is contra-indicated for pancreatitis, then I probably won't be taking any medicine at all. So ok then. I won't be taking MANY medicines at all. Why in the world would I want to take a medicine that could give me more of what I already suffer from??? An intern once tried to prescribe me a steriod. Predinisone to be exact. It says it is contra indicated for pancreatitis patients. Gastrointestinal: Peptic ulcer with possible perforation and hemorrhage; pancreatitis; etc. I told him this. He said " It won't be that much. You'll be ok " . I told him " I wasn't taking it because I wasn't going to risk having an attack. " He said " If you do have an attack it won't be that bad. " I asked him if he " had ever given birth through his bellybutton cause that would be mild pain compared to a pancreatic attack " . He just looked at me. Insisted I take the prednisone. The FNP came in and I told her no to the prednisone and why and she said " I don't blame you. I wouldn't take it either " and then she schooled the intern in front of me and told him to listen to the patient better. Most times I love my FNP. Sometimes she gets a little busy and doesn't always listen but most times she's pretty good. Sandy in Ca
