Guest guest
No she does not have diarrhea, rather the opposite. I have tried and am still giving her food with higher iron such as: Thyme dried, parsley, spinach, cinnamon, organo, swiss chard, rosemary, green beans, leeks, asparagus, broccoli but somehow it does not do anything. Is there something I am missing so that she is not able to absorb it? She is 15 years old and weighs 50 lbs. She is 136cm so the ratio is ok, I just would like her to gain weight, so that she has something to fall back on. She eats fairly well. She has on average a caloric intake of 17oo to 1800 a day. She drinks appr. 750 a day. I add 1 table spoon of cold pressed organic oils to her food and she gets lactobacillus Acidophulos by Kirkman and Vitamin B complex by Genestra. I had given her more vitamins and minerals but always end up pulling things because she starts to vomit. Her diet is a 4 day rotation diet and she gets appr. 60 to 80 gr. Of meat in each meal. I am giving her goat yoghurt but very little since she seems to get mucous after she eats this. Thanks you for your help. Guest guest
My guy had serious problems with anemia earlier. It was before SCD, so we mainly supplemented with liquid iron supplements, but the ones we used are not SCD. www.kirkmanlabs.com <http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/> has a really small capsule that is SCD http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/minerals/iron/Iron280_120.html at 5mg each you may need to give several, but they can be opened up and mixed with water or juice. Always give iron with vitamin C to help absorption (and if you mix them in liquid, expect a bubbly black experience-let it sit for about 5 minutes so that it will settle) . Give iron away from other minerals. Good luck! Holly Mom of Quinn, age 4.5, recovering from autism, SCD 9 weeks

Is > there something I am missing so that she is not able to absorb it? >>> Is she getting any meat sources of iron? - they are easier for the body to absorb. Is she getting any vitamin C? I had low iron last year and ate a diet that was rich in iron, but I was getting close to zero vit C. I increased my iron rich foods and starting drinking juices with vitamin C at each meal (especially if I had liver and/or spinach). Slowly and steadily my iron increased. Does she drink black tea? The tannins in tea can prevent absorption of iron when consumed in large amounts. > She is 15 years old and weighs 50 lbs.
