Hello Everyone

My daughter has been on the diet for 8 months. She's currently on a very

basic diet due to... I'm not sure anymore:(

She has had issues with yeast, phenols and salicylates.

She had a time when she was having a well formed BM a day and then, she had a

regression and her stools were a mess again. She was switching from constipation

to mushy stools for a while. Three weeks ago she had diarrhea for a whole week

and after that her stools look like before the diet.

She was on Diflucan for a month and after that I haven't given her anything

for yeast. I plan to start some natural antifungals this weeks but I'm afraid to

mess up her intestines even more...

Here's what she's eating. I can not cut any more foods or she won't have

anything to eat!

Eggs, SCD legal bacon, beef and chicken. Butternut squash, green beans, pear,

sometimes apple, white grape juice extra diluted. The only honey she's having is

a little bit I use to make her butternut squash muffins. Everything's still very

well cooked and seeded.

Supplements: Nordic Naturals CLO, NN fish oil, Super Nu-thera hypoalergenic

caps. and Zinc cream, epsom salt baths.

I stopped the melatonin, Magnesium Citrate and the probiotics because she was

having lots of trouble to sleep.

Can you please help me? I try to be very careful with everything but nothing

seems to make a noticeable difference. I am doing something wrong? I asked on

the list about the supplements before I bought them and they said they were

legal.

I really appreciate all the help you can give me. I'm feeling very

discouraged, please help!

Thank you

Hi Ximena,

Have you tried having your daughter tested for clostridium?

You can read about this and other hints for improving your child's SCD.

http://www.pecanbread.com/new/Improvethediet.htm

You might want to take out the Super Nu thera for a month and watch

the results.

Some kids cannot tolerate the green beans while others cannot tolerate

the squash during the early days of the diet

Try to not use any capsules; just open the capsules and spill the

content into a liquid.

Are you sure that your daughter is not sneaking some foods. My dd is a

master at that.

All the best,

Mimi

Hello, thank you for your quick reply.

She was tested for Clostridium and it tested negative, I have here the

complete results of the tests, maybe you can help me to see what else I can do

to help my little one:

Beneficial Flora: Bifidobacter 0+; E. Coli spp. 4+; Lactobacillus spp 0+;

Enterococcus spp 2+.

Imbalances: ella ii 2+

Dysbiotic Flora: Proteus Mirabilis 4+

No yeast isolated

I have always thought yeast is a big issue for . Now, I don't really

know.

About the diet, she has never had problems with the butternut squash but

sometimes I see little pieces of green beans in her stools, so I think they

could be part of the problem. But if I don't give her green beans, the only

vegetable will be butternut squash and that looks terrible to me.

I will stop the Super Nu-thera. She doesn't swallow capsules so I always empty

the content on something she would eat like eggs or a butternut squash muffin.

To be honest, her diet is soooooo limited and she's always sooooo hungry that

sometimes I give her vegetables she's not suppose to eat (phenols) like broccoli

and zucchini and avocado, She's always looking for food. I'm sure she doesn't

eat any ilegals at home and at school her teacher is very careful with that,

too.

is completely non verbal so I couldn't know for sure what's going on.

She seems to be a little more lethargic lately...

If you see something else I can do for my , please let me know, She was

doing very well on the diet, I don't know what happened.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Blessings,

Ximena

Hello Sheila,

had that regression before the Diflucan. While taking the Diflucan her

stools were never consistent, sometimes well formed, sometimes mushy, sometimes

even the two combined.

After the Diflucan she had a whole week with diarrhea but it turned out to be

a virus because she was also vomiting and didn't eat very well.

About the probiotics, she started with lyosan acidophilus and then the

nutritionist suggested to switch to d-lactate free bifidum. I know the last one

is considered ilegal but she says because of the bowel inflammation, d-lactate

free was a better option for a limited time. took it for about two weeks

and only the smallest dosage. I read what Elaine said about bifidum and thought

it was not a high risk to try it in such small amount and for a limited time,

She was also having a Tbs of SCD yogurt every day. currently, she's not taking

any kind of probiotic.

While on Diflucan, had some gains, even when her stool were so messy.

She undestood and followed a two-step direction for the first time in her life:)

After the medication was finished, and she had that virus, she's been more

lethargic and doesn't want to interact much with us.

Thank you for your help.

How were her bm's while on the bifidum and after you stopped it?

Did you take the bifidum before or after the diflucan?

When you stopped the probiotics did that help with the sleep? The

sleep problem may have been die off. Did you try epsom salt baths?

Are you still using yogurt?

It sounds as if this may be a yeast problem.

Hello Sheila,

She took the probiotics while taking the Diflucan, at bed time. As I told you,

her stools were very different from one day to the other. At the end they were

all mushy and are just like that now. I don't know for sure what helped her

with her sleep because I stopped several things at the same time.

I was giving her an Epsom Salt bath every night before bed time. It didn't

help with her sleep this time (it has before). I stopped giving her the

magnesium, melatonin and probiotics at the same time because she was having just

a couple hours of sleep and that helped. I haven't started again any of those,

because she's having trouble sleeping again. She's taking 1Tbs of yogurt/day.

I don't know what to do first. Should I start giving her other kind of

probiotic? maybe a natural antifungal and Candex? I worry about her intestines,

Her tests results show a lot of inflammation so I don't want to overwhelm her

intestines with medications or supplements if it is not something that would

help right now,

The only supplements she's on now are CLO and fish oil. Both from Nordic

Naturals with lemon and orange flavor. Could these be the problem? I asked on

the list and I was told they were legal. I stopped the Super Nu-thera too as

Mimi suggested but her stools are a complete mess. Just like they were before

the diet. What's happening? I just have no idea.

Thank you for your help for this clueless mom.

If you are sure that she has yeast it may help to try the yeast

enzyme and see if that helps. Going back to the intro (for 2-3 days)

may help also. The green beans might be problematic for her. Going

back to the intro and introducing everything in a 2-3 day span will

allow you to check if the problem is a food intolerance or not.

If you aren't sure about yeast you can try this:

http://www.adhdrelief.com/CandidaTest.html It indicates if yeast may

be a problem.

These are legal. If she didn't have a problem with them before they

aren't likely the problem.
