Hello Everyone,

This is my first email to the group. I have CIGNA insurance and I have just

had my orthopaedic surgeon send me a letter stating I needed this surgery. I

am taking this letter and all the written attempts from different

organizations to lose weight to my primary physician next week. I have been

told I MAY have problems with CIGNA, does anyone out there have any hints or

tips that might help me.

This is so wonderful to find such wonderful people with the same concerns

that I have. Thank each and every one of you for just being here!

Sonya, I had CIGNA and had no problems, they covered 80/20, and I was

accepted the first time..but some have had problems..all policys are

different..you will just have to submit and see what happen..have a positive

attitude and don't give in if they reject the first time...I think some of

the time they try to wear you down..but this surgery, MGB is worth it so hang

in there..

Sonya,

I just submitted my letter to Cigna today and am hoping

everything will be OK. I called them about it before I

even started this process and they told me that they

were one of the few that did cover WLS. They said that I

would be covered 100% but I guess that varies according

to your type of policy. I guess I just have to wait and

see.

Zoey, what type of health related issues did you have? I have Cigna

also, I have high bp and sleep apnea, some joint problems and shortness

of breath, but I do not have diabetes or anything else. I'm really

afraid they are going to turn me down..I sure hope not.

Bonnie, I did not have high blood pressure or diabetes..but my joints were

bad, esp. the knees...I was borderline everything..Just hang in there and

don't try to second guess what they are going to do or it will drive you

nuts..keep us posted..I know they have turned some down and accepted

others...Sometimes I actually it depends who is making the decision..Good

Luck..
