Guest guest
Barbara, I can't believe that your son was diagnosed. I had attacks beginning at about age 8 and I wasn't diagnosed until 10 years ago, I am now 29. I am having a Whipple on Thursday and I am gettting really nervous, but after reading that your son had a Frey, I know I can get through this. I am so sorry that you have to go through the same hell as my mother worrying about your son's health and his future. I hope that you are getting much needed help and support from others. I hope your son is doing well. You both are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, > I routinely monitor the discussions that go on, but seldome respond. My > son (age 12), diagnosed January 2005 and already having undergone a Frey > Procedure was just put on Protonix. Thank you so much for the warning!! > So far it has only helped, but it is so useful to hear these comments. > I have so much to learn from you guys...keep the info coming!!!!! Guest guest
: The only reason he was diagnoses was that an abdominal X-ray showed calcifications so bad that his pancreatic duct was completely blocked!! Up until that point, I was basically being told that his pain was psychosomatic!! We were at the end of our rope when he was diagnosed, he had missed so much school I cannot even tell you, and yet the doctors were telling me to leave him in school through the attacks (because they didn't think they were real). If it wasn't for the blockages (which were his reason for the Frey procedure) we wouldn't have been diagnosed for years!! His procedure went so well, I can honestly tell you not to be afraid. It was tough for a few days, but he is so much better now, and managing quite well will occasional bouts of pain. He is on enzymes and acid reducing medicine and a low fat diet and boost. Please write to me again and let me know if there is anything we can tell you that will put you more at ease? When is your procedure? Guest guest
: I will be praying for you on Thursday. I just re-read your e-mail and our thoughts will be with you. I feel so badly that you have were not diagnosed earlier. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to have continued on the path we were on without a diagnosis. My poor son was in pain almost every day before his diagnosis, and nothing helped. Our regular pediatrician even had him on a sort of mild tranquilizer whenever he went into the pain because he thought that would " relax " him!! I am so angry when I think about it. But if you saw him now, you would not believe was just six months has done!! I know that this procedure will help you, I really do.
