Hello Eileen,

Low fat diet, no alcohol (even so called non-alcoholic) and watch those cold

medications for alcohol too. No smoking either. Stresses the pancreas out.

Some people are diligent about to no caffine. I have been living on C2 as of

late because it makes me feel better when I have to take my pain meds and I just

can't seem to eat enough without the pain anymore. I also have SOD and the

caffine does not bother either. Nor does the little bit of sugar it has. Also

some people have to stay away from dairy, wheat, white sugar etc. Those are

personal choices and your body will tell you what is best for you and your

pancreas. I can tolerate them all except I do it in a low fat, no fat version.

I can also tolerate red meat, but not too much.

Exercise is what you can personally tolerate. When those endorphins kick it, it

really is a great feeling but sometimes I have a hard time, pain wise, getting

to that point anymore.

Alot of people take the anti-oxidants. I did try them diligently and they made

me very constipated so I stopped and I became " normal " again. LOL!! So if it

works for you, then do it. Yes, this disease can play head games with you. Alot

of people can have acute reoccuring pancreaitis and it never goes chronic. And

then at some point it can just go away BUT you still have to follow the same

guidelines even if it does go away. I have 2 friends who had their GB out, had

several bouts of AP and are now fine. So it doesn't have to be the end of the

world with this disease. Taking care of yourself and your body is a big part of

helping to control it, I think. Just my opinion on that last part.

As I said before, if you know something is wrong DO NOT STOP asking questions

and going to doctors until you get the same diagnosis twice. This is your body

and you know it better than anyone else in the world, including all the

specialists out there. If you know something is wrong, then it probably is.

Take care,

Sandy in Ca

Thanks Sandy. :-)

From what I have read here on the forum, to keep your pancreas

healthy, low fat diet, right?

I have also seen antioxidants (which I started this week)

Anything else?
