Hi Guys,

This is my first time writing. I have just started the process of

filling out the questionnaire on line and receiving a letter back from Dr. R.

I have several questions.......what does the reference mean about

dance? How did that come about and what is it in reference to?

Also, is there absolutely no more joy or pleasure left in terms of

eating after the operation?

The package seems overwhelming at first glance, but I am

committed. Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

What was the worst thing after the operation?

Thanks for all your information....a in ville, Florida. If there

are any local pre or post ops near me, please let me know. Thanks

Betty,

Just curious, how did you know that you had a leak?

Thanks so much for writing back. Do you know how the " dance " developed? How

it came to be as a word for the surgery? I love that!

Also, I appreciate knowing that you can still enjoy food after a

month! That's great.

Hi a, I am a post op of 2 months and 2 days. I was wondering when a

new person to the list would ask about the " dance " . Good for you for

asking. It just means the surgery itself. I danced with Dr. R. on 9/29/00.

As for all the pleasure gone in eating after the surgery, the answer is an

astounding YES for the 1st month. Liquids for 2 weeks and soft foods for 2

weeks. After your month is up, the answer changes to NO. I still enjoy

eating as much as I ever did. My tastes seem to have changed some. I eat

smaller portions. I don't like meat as much as I did. I love fish better

than I did. I eat most everything I want. My new tummy tells me what and

how much to eat. I went to my first German restaurant Tuesday. Loved every

bite I took of bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut and some unnamed stuff.

But for the next 2 days I had enuf (sorry) gas to run my family out of the

house. But do not worry about not enjoying food after surgery. You will.

As for the worst after surgery, I haven't had a worst yet. I did have a

slight complication called a leak and that caused some pain and concern.

But in a week I was over that. I feel great, love looking in the mirror at

the lack of some of my former chins and I love crossing my legs.

Stick with that package. It is well worth it. For the rest of your life.

But do your research well and feel that you know exactly what is going to

happen to you. Study other forms of WLS and be sure that Dr. R's surgery is

for you.

Good luck on your journey. Betty in Western NC
