Guest guest
Hi all, My 24/7 gnawing pain has always been about a 3 on a 1-10 scale. I was actually feeling pretty good the last few days. Then yesterday, for the first time, I took some pancreatin, enzyme supplement and I began to get increasing pain. By bedtime it was a 7 scale pain that was on my left flank, under my ribcage and felt like it was going into the left side of my chest. First time I felt it like that. Woke up today with it better, but then again, I have not eaten anything. I am supposed to go back to work Saturday. I work every other saturday at a spa. I'm afraid of the physical activity, and I never know what i will feel like in the morning Eileen
Guest guest
Eileen, Some people have noticed discomfort when they first started enzyme supplements. I personally didn't have any problems when I first started on Ultrace MT-20 enzymes, which are an enteric coated capsule (with tiny microbeads inside of the capsule) type of enzyme. But months later, when I tried Creon enzymes, I did experience very strong discomfort after many days of trial use, so I went back to the Ultrace. I later learned that several people had experienced the same type of pain and discomfort for the first several weeks that they were on Creon, but that this eventually went away as their body became accustomed to them, and they found them very effective for their digestion. I'm on a different enzyme now, called Viokase-16's, and these are the type that you have to take an antiacid, (proton pump inhibitor), with first before taking the enzymes. Your discomfort MAY have been caused by the Pancreatin, or maybe not. The only way to really find out is to try taking them again, before you eat something. I haven't tried this enzyme myself, but do know that Karyn and some of the other members use them, and are very happy with the results. So, your pain may have been from that, or it may have just been " one of those days " ..... With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC and SE Regional Rep.
