Guest guest
Hi guys, Does any one out there know any thing about low enzyme levels or whether it is anything to be concerned with? My G.I. doc ordered a lipase on me & it was 7. According to the nurse, normal is 16 to 63. I would appreciate any input. Thanks! K.

Guest guest
Hi , I also found this on a laboratory website: " Drugs that may interfere with maintaining proper lipase levels include codeine, indomethacin, morphine, and drugs with a hydrochloric acid base. " I looked at the zofran that I take and it has hydrochloric acid as a component of the medication. HCl is one of the most common linkers in medication so you may want to see if this applies to you. I would look at both prescription and over-the-counter meds. laurie
Guest guest
Laurie is right, some meds can cause a decreased in serum lipase. Did they tell you what your amylase levels were? My enzymes have never been elevated and for the most part were very low. You pancreas may not be making enough lipse or it cant makes it way to the blood stream. It would probably be wise to have them checked again. Aren';t you going to have your gallbladder removed soon? I think it was you, but my memory is not all that great these days. Hope this helps some and you are feeling well. Warmly, (SC)
