Guest guest
Hey everybody! I'm brand new to this, and I'm actually writing on behalf of my husband. He is starting a new job on Monday, and hallelujah, the insurance company should be covering the MGB at 100%. Of course, we don't have insurance for 90 days, but then he should be home free. I was so happy I cried. We've looked into bypass surgery before, but looking at the cost plus all the recovery time, it wasn't even an option. Then I found Dr. R's website, and I've been on it every day for about a week - this can happen for him, for us, for our family. My husband's doctor has been suggesting a bypass surgery for about three years, so I know we'll have the medical support - but there is one hitch: with the new insurance plan, we can't go to our wonderful doctor. That's tough because he's been working with Troy for a long time, and I know he'll be so happy for us. Plus, he's got a real idea of what's going on with Troy's weight/health, he's got all his medical history, etc. So we need to find a new doctor that will be covered with CIGNA in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Anyone nearby with any info? Plus, I think I read somewhere that you have to have a solid relationship for several months before you can send in the application. I feel a little bit discouraged by having to wait even longer, but from the sounds of the mail group, getting insurance approval is 90% of the mountain, and I shouldn't complain about waiting 6 months or more. Also, is there much he can do other than fill out the patient information form and send that in? Or should he wait until he has the insurance and the new doctor before he really gets going on things? By the way, my name is , and I hope that even though I won't be the actual patient, it's okay for me to write here - I just know that I have more time to be involved here, and I like to write. Congratulations to all of you. You are all inspirations to my husband and myself. Thanks.

Guest guest
: Your husband's current doctor can still write the letter of support for him. The only thing you will need from the new doctor is a referral to Dr. R, and that is for insurance reasons. I would get everything together now and send it off. That way you can schedule a date 90 days out and be ready. Christy / CA MGB 11-8-
Guest guest
: Like another MGBer said.....ask your current PCP to refer you to someone who is on your new insurance. That way they can work together. If he doesn't know anyone, then maybe he can write a letter to that new doctor and explain your husband's history, etc. Good luck. Guest guest
Christy, I think I will go ahead and do what we can with our current doctor - he's a wonderful, kind man, and I hate to think of leaving him - he's my PCP too. Plus, I'm going nuts reading all about the MGB, and reading all these posts and getting excited about it - and feeling like we won't be able to make any real progress for months and months! Do you think a new doctor would have objections to giving a referral to Dr. R. on a patient he barely knows? I won't even know what doctors we can choose from until the first part of March. I guess once you decide on something like this, time just can't move fast enough. Thanks! ...., on behalf of her husband, 'cause he's at work Re: just getting started > : > > Your husband's current doctor can still write the letter of support for him. > The only thing you will need from the new doctor is a referral to Dr. R, and > that is for insurance reasons.
