Now you know that you aren't the first person who has had their

diagnostic options ruined by this doctor, and unfortunately, probably

not the last! At least anyone else here has been alerted about this

physician, and as long as one of us is still on the board, (I plan to

be here as long as the website is.....lol), we can alert others to

what happens when he is asked for his " expert " opinion.

The clinic at Beth Isreal Deaconess Hospital sounds very promising.

If it were me that got an appointment there, I would be tempted not to

mention having been seen by Banks at all, and wouldn't take his

records in with me. I keep personal copies of all my records, and

would just have to " lose " something like that which was so damaging to

the credibility of my symptoms and previous diagnosis'. But, just

because I would do that, doesn't in any way mean that you should

listen to me.....

I do hope that you can get an appointment there, and some help from

someone more compassionate. Meanwhile, though, you really do need to

get some help with this new problem. I would think that anything that

creates such a burning, painful feeling can't be doing you any good.

And the edema needs attention, too, it's ridiculous that you've had so

much trouble with it this long and haven't had any progress - there

has to be something that can be done to get it in control. Have it

attended to, and then get on the phone and on the road and get

yourself back up to Boston to the other clinic. If your present GI

can't or won't help you, you need to stress that to whomever you talk

to at the BIDH pancreas clinic, perhaps the urgency of your current

problems will be enough to get a quick appointment scheduled. Good

luck....I'm anxious to hear some good news for you.

With love, hope and prayers,

Heidi

Hi laura; I'm sorry that you have been having so much more trouble. I

have also heard a few people complain about Banks and I think Heidi's

idea of having a list of the offensive doctors is an excellent idea. I

was trying to remember if you had gone to see Dr. Lehman or not. My

mind is kind of think you had. If so, I would think that his diagnosis

and recommedations would all that would be necessary to be seen at the

pancreatic clinic at BIDH. If I was mistaken about you seeing Lehamn,

I'm sorry, my memory is not what it used to be.

I have been very fortunate with the physcians I have seen at MUSC. Dr.

Hawes was my panreatologist. If you could get down to the deep

south, He would take excellent care of you.

I hope this helps,

(SC)

Heidi: Thanks so much for your kind words of encouragement. I

still haven't done anything regarding calling Beth Israel for an

appointment. I just sit here suffering because I'm just so fed up

with the " help " that I have (or haven't) gotten that I just can't

bring myself to do anything about it right now. And to tell the

truth, it isn't just that either...alot has been happening around

here lately to hold up things - my father in law just passed away

and while he wasn't what you would call a good father or husband

(with any stretch of the imagination!!) it is still my husband's

father and I know it's effecting him and also the worry about his

Mom. His sister lives near his Mom, however, and his brother still

lives at home at the the tender age of 35 (!!) so at least there are

people there for her.

But, it's just been one thing after another around here lately in

addition to my problems so just haven't had a good opportunity

really...I know that sounds like a cop out and maybe it partially

is...but I'll get around to it soon enough. This burning pain is

driving me bonkers....nothing seems to get rid of it except laying

in one position in bed and basically NOT moving. It ALWAYS happens

either right prior or right after a bowel movement so there is some

connection there and I just can't figure it out for the life of

me....

Thanks again Heidi...I hope you're feeling good today
