Guest guest
Hi, This week was my 6 month check up with my Endocrinologist. I'd already had my bloodwork done last week for my HBA1c, TSH and all the other stuff, and was pleased with all the results. Although my HbA1c was up, from a 5.4 to a 5.8, my doctor was still happy with that since it's still well within normal range. So the brittleness that I worry about so much still appears to be holding off. My cholesterol, which had been much too high last time, was 141 this time, with the bad LDL only 66, so that was a terrific improvement and a great relief. I think last time the LDL itself was something like a 148, so this is a BIG improvement. My major complaint for the last month has been overpowering fatigue - I've been ready to nap at the drop of a hat and sleeping for 10-13 hours a day and still feeling wiped out. Last Saturday I was only awake for seven hours of the entire 24, and was still tired! I thought it had to be that I needed an adjustment in my thyroid medication, because I'd also started losing a lot of hair like I did before when the low thyroid was first discovered. My test came in borderline normal the doc said, meaning that it was just on the edge of the low side of normal, so my Endo has increased my Synthroid to 112 mgs. Hopefully this will help restore some energy and keep me on my feet longer each day, because I really HATE sleeping all the time, especially when everything else feels okay. I had asked to have my Duragesic script lowered two weeks ago with my PM doctor, and haven't had any problems with the lower dosage, nor have I had to take too many oxy's for BT, so it appears that I'm going through a quiet time for a change. The doctor also started me on the new Lantus pen, instead of using the vials of insulin, which will be a great convenience. All in all, it was a successful diabetes appointment with positive results. Next month I have my bi-annual CT-scan to check out my pseudocyst and all of the other fancy tests....chest x-ray, bone density, EKG, bloodwork, stool tests, etc. I'm hoping for good results from all.
