I am not Patty, but name is . I have had MANY celiac nerve

plexus blocks. Anyway of approach is not really relevant. If they

can find the celiac plexus then it can be done. The first one done

in 1997 was done in a radiology room under fluroscopy through my

back by a med student at IU Med Center. It did hurt quite a bit,

although they kept putting medication in my IV all it did was keep

me from opening my eyes, I knew everything they did. It did help for

about 4-5 months, and then that all to famiiar pain started coming

back slowly. I was able to control the pain with Percocet after the

first block for a while and then it became full blown again.

Honestly I have had so many endoscopic celiac blocks done I don't

know how many I have had. They work for about a day and then stop.

They are only a temporary measure and I understand why someone would

want temporary help. I understand the reason for the question. Would

I ever have another one, NO, I believe I have recieved the maximum

benefit that one can recieve from them. It is an individual question

and as I well know that sometimes when it pain, desperate people

will resort to desperate measures to get some relief, it is a hard

decision to make. Hope this helps someone out there.
