Mason Jars or Plastic jars?<< I just put the mason jars into a larger Tupperware container with 110-114F water then put the probe of my digital thermometer into the water. This is the way I could see what the temp of the yogurt truly was. I found if I just laid the probe on the bottom of the oven it wasn't registering the right temp at all. The first time I made it I just put my jars into the oven and laid the probe on the bottom. This didn't work at all. The yogurt I made was very watery, not the right consistency at all. The second time I did the water bath method and the yogurt came out a much better consistency. You will have to add more water to the bath throughout the incubation because it evaporates. Let me know if you have any more questions and it this works for you. Guest guest
Hi, Prasanna, I have an Excaliber. I use Pyrex glass casseroles with plastic lids. I use a thermometer that I put right into the yogurt when I check the temp. I marked on the dial with " Wite out " where the good temp was (on mine, somewhere around 96F) but since the dial is awkward to control (turns past the number you want, rotates back on its own) I always check a couple of times with my thermometer anyway. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
