Just wondering if there are any of you who feel that your pancreatic

problems started after having a laporoscopic gallbladder removal.

I'm pretty sure mine did. I didn't know it was pancreas for a long

time! It's been almost 15 years for me.

Hi yes

all of my problems started teh fateful day they took my gallblader out

that way.

I have never been the same since and the pain has never let up in 6

years , it is constant I get no reprieve. I could handle it if say I

got a day or a week free of pain. It grinds you down

So how long did it take to get diagnosed for you?

They still havent done conclusive tests on me but I know. I have had

one fecal elastase show positive and liver function tests but nothing

else.

I dont know why it it so hard to find for alot of us.

Tell me a little of what you went through

Cheers

Well, here's my definite vote for YES(!!) all of this started

shortly

after my lap chole in February 2004. I was ok for about 2 wks and

then that old familiar pain and nausea that I thought sure I'd

gotten

rid of came right back again and it has just gotten progressively

worse since then. There has got to be a major correlation and I'm

actually a bit surprised that they haven't sort of put a hold on lap

choles in light of the many people that seem to end up with

pancreatic problems.

I've often wondered if maybe because you're not " opened up " all the

way, the way you would be pre laparascopic surgery that perhaps they

either sort of " nick " something when they're in there. Or perhaps

when the gall bladder itself comes out (and I'm not real good at the

exact techniques so please excuse my naivete here!) when they sort

of " re-route " the duct(s?) directly into the intestine that that

part of the surgery isn't performed as well as it would be if they

were able to see as carefully as they would if you were opened up

all the way. I don't know just a feeling I have at least with

respect to the way my problems are.

To this day the main pain comes right before a bowel movement and

then it gets even worse once I've emptied out my bowels. Then it

gradually lessens, and then builds up to that crescendo again. This

is why I'm in nearly constant pain as you can imagine because well,

the bowel movement cycles are so close together anyway....

Just my experience and again, your mileage may vary....

Mine started before the laporoscopic gallbladder removal, but did

get worse. It's been over 15 yrs for me. I was treated for severe

endometreosis for 10 yrs. I've heard there's a relationship between

endo and CP. I'm not sure what it is, but a nurse told me it's very

common to have both.

Take care.
